Why gun bans/restrictions don't work

It's rather ironic if you think about it. Gun bans have failed ever since their inception.

Starting with the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act:

  1. Cleveland Elementary School
  2. Standard Gravure Corporation
  3. General Motors Acceptance Corporation Office
  4. Luby's Cafeteria - (the one Dr. Suzanna Hupp was involved in)
  5. 101 California Street Office of Pettit & Martin Law Firm

onto the 1994-2004 Clinton Assault weapons ban or as it's officially known the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act:

  1.  Long Island Railroad
  2.  Fairchild Air Force Base
  3. Caltrans Maintenance Yard
  4. Connecticut State Lottery Headquarters
  5. Westside Middle School
  6. Thurston High School
  7. Columbine High School
  8. Wedgwood Baptist Church
  9. Xerox Office Building
  10. Edgewater Technology Office
  11. Hunting Camp

After the 1994-2004 Assault weapons ban expired:

  1. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
  2. Westroads Mall
  3. Northern Illinois University
  4. American Civic Association
  5. Fort Hood
  6. Hartford Beer Distributor
  7. U.S. Rep. Gabriel Giffords Congress on Your Corner
  8. Grand Rapids
  9. Carson City IHOP
  10. The Dark Knight Rises: Movie Theater Shooting
  11. Sikh Temple of Wisconsin
  12. Sandy Hook Elementary School
So lets see, by my count the only difference in the number of shootings with and without an assault weapons ban is 1, far more if you count all of these incidents under the FOPA.

Is that really enough to say that we need to infringe on the rights of the millions of gun owners  to pass legislation that doesn't solve the problem it intended to solve?

Out right gun bans don't work either. Look at the city of Chicago. Highest murder rate of any city and guns are COMPLETELY OUTLAWED.

How far down the road of tyranny do we need to go before people wake up and realize GUN LAWS DON'T WORK?
